On Choosing The Best Water Garden Fountain For Your Desired Waterscape

Traditionally, water gardens include water falls. But not all locations and not all allowable setups would accommodate cascading water. Hence, a deviation from the norm was created... a water garden fountain. Instead of having water falling from an elevated platform, water is instead sprouted from the surface to a magnificent explosion of aquatic display.

If you wish to pursue a water garden fountain setup, you have to know the different choices available for you. Let's take a look at them.

* Fountain heads. Fountain heads are elevated pipes from which water would burst from. This is great for basins of limited size, so that water may be better controlled.

* Spitters. Perhaps you're familiar with rather famous fountains where water is spitted from the mouth of a human figure. These fountains are called spitters because of such. They are not limited to human figures, however. They could be as simple as small pipes with holes where water is forcefully released at timed intervals.

* Splashdance. So named because of the illusion they create, that of dancing water, splashdance fountains are popular for larger water gardens. Often, a lighting source is positioned in the middle of the sprout to make the fountain look more elegant and regal.

* Floating fountains. Rightfully named because their sprouts float on the surface of the water, and once the water is released, it sways all around the water garden, floating fountains are best considered for even larger water gardens. Otherwise, control over the flow of water would be very difficult.

As you could see from the foregoing, your choice of a water garden fountain would have to depend on the size of the water garden you're envisioning. Additionally, it should also be dependent on the style of the water garden you're planning to build. You can't have a floating fountain in waterfalls-type setup, for example, as conflicting design elements would just make the waterscape lose its focus.

So take some time in choosing the best water garden fountain for your desired setup. The fountain, after all, will be the centerpiece of your waterscape. Personally, I observe two rules when it comes to selecting the right fountain.

1. The fountain should not be flamboyant enough to overshadow the overall design of the water garden; and

2. The fountain should not be underwhelming enough to appear like a mere afterthought.

Always try to look at the bigger picture, that is, your water garden in its entirety, and decide if the fountain will bring all the elements together... or shatter them into unrecognizable components.
